How bad is the job market in America? Vol.1 |

Less job positions, more job seekers
As you can see, the condition of the job market
(both in America and in Japan) is not very good
for job seekers. It is very lopsided. According
to the statistics, the number of employment in the
year of 2002 was less than that in 2001. It is still
declining. But of course, it doesn’t mean that all
companies stopped hiring altogether. Some companies
in certain fields are eager to look for
|
new people.
It is hard for me to accurately pinpoint them, but
it is widely said that chemical and medical industries,
and also automobiles are some of the fields where
there are still a fair number of positions available.
But generally speaking, those companies hire people
largely to fill vacancies. They need people mostly
because “someone has left,” so to speak. This is
generally the case in recent trend of employment.
In such a situation, naturally the job market is filled
to the overflowing with job seekers. It is totally
different from a couple of decades ago, when job seekers
afforded to “choose” a job they wanted. Some students
would even receive several informal decisions from companies
(to hire them) in advance. The market used to be very much
in favor of sellers. It is exactly the opposite now.
What we can do for you...
Since there is so much competition among job seekers, rumor
has it that a company sometimes receives a thousand resumes
for one position. I understand it is very time-consuming and
even costly for companies to deal with that, and in many cases
very hard to find the most qualified person among so many applicants.
We are always in close contact with all of our job seekers.
Our mission is to match employers’ recruitment needs and job seekers’
wishes and abilities.
The job market is changing rapidly and sometimes hard for most
people to follow. We, as specialists, are able to accurately analyze
those movements to help find the most qualified job seekers for employers.
We listen carefully to all the people we meet, to provide good job opportunities
for job seekers, and satisfying recruitment solutions for employers.
